Casotto innevato nel giardino di Ca'Boscodonne

The history of the house

The house, built in the mid-nineteenth century, was originally a farm with farmyard animals and cows. In the land of the property, vines were cultivated and, between one row of rows, corn for the family's needs. In the current kitchen there was the stable and upstairs the barn.

The villa has undergone two main renovations: the first in the 1980s, by the current owner's parents, transforming the farm into a country house, and the last starting from 2021 by the current owners, enriching it with modern comforts while keeping a warm and welcoming retro atmosphere.

The history of the municipality

The town of Calosso has an ancient history that dates back to at least 960 AD. During the municipal period, it was one of the most important fiefdoms of the Consortium of Acquosana, but the internal struggles and the wars between the Guelphs and Ghibellines caused the fiefdom to be handed over to the Astesi families. In 1377, it was purchased by the noble banker Percivalle Roero and subsequently became part of Valentina Visconti's dowry, passing under French rule for 150 years. During this period, Moscato di Calosso wine even enriched the table of Queen Madama Cristina, wife of Carlo Emanuele I. In 1531, with the county of Asti, it passed to the Savoy, but during the 17th century it was involved in wars and occupations. With the Peace of the Pyrenees in 1659, it lost its strategic importance and its castle became the residence of the Roero family. With the end of the 17th century, Calosso entered a more peaceful and stable period.

World Heritage Site

Our country house is located in the Roero, an area recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site since 2014. This designation is the result of a decades-long commitment by local institutions to promote and protect the precious wine lands of Piedmont. The cultural landscape of the Langhe-Roero and Monferrato reflects a thousand-year history linked to viticulture, with a deep-rooted "wine culture". Visiting this region will add unique value to your stay experience and we are proud to share this heritage with our guests.
